Vic: Police shooting victim on robbery, violence charges: report

MELBOURNE, Feb 22 AAP - The man shot dead by police in a suburban street in Melbourne's
west was on bail on charges including robbery and intentionally causing serious injury,
according to reports.

The man, named in newspaper reports (Eds: The Age, Herald Sun) today as Michael Bugeja,
34, was shot by police several times in the upper body and died near his house in Frank
Street, Sunshine West yesterday morning.

Police allege he was threatening them with an axe when the shots were fired.
