Fed: Shell confident Woodside takeover will go ahead

CANBERRA, Feb 27 AAP - Shell Australia executives today said they were confident the
company's controversial bid to take over Woodside Petroleum would succeed despite widespread
opposition.

They dismissed fears the company's attempt to increase its stake in Woodside from 34
to 56 per cent would be against the national interest, saying it would raise Australia's
game.
